Northeast Corner In the Guard's Walk, 2nd Floor
   The north/south and east/west sections of the guards walk meet here in the 
corner.  A wide arrow slit is placed in both the east and north walls, covered 
by sliding iron hatches.  Two large torches are hung from the ceiling by thin 
iron chains.  Large iron doors lead south and west, and a stairwell leads 
downward to the ground floor.  A newer second set of stairs rises into what 
appears to be a corner tower.

   This room is strategically very important.  There are stairs leading up and 
down here to the other floors of the castle.  Controlling the corners of the 
castle was obviously very important to the castle designer considering the 
thickness of the iron doors that lead to the perimeter halls.  There are arrow 
slits cut into the stone in both exterior walls, which are currently covered 
by sliding iron doors.  A bench sits against the wall next to a water barrel.  
Doors lead to the south and to the west.

The Guards Observatory
   From this vantage point, with the aid of the barred window in the door, the 
guards can screen everyone entering the castle through the main gate.  The 
room is furnished only with several torch sconces and a water barrel in one

A Corner in the Guards Walk
   This room is strategically very important.  There are stairs leading up and 
down here to the other floors of the castle.  Controlling the corners of the 
castle was obviously very important to the castle designer considering the 
thickness of the iron doors that lead to the perimeter halls.  There are arrow 
slits cut into the stone in both exterior walls, which are currently covered 
by sliding iron doors.  A bench sits against the wall next to a water barrel.  
Doors lead to the south and to the west.

is no protection from the precipitory elements.  All around are benches and 
throne like chairs, some wooden, some iron, and a few carved straight out of 
the icy snow.  The garden is totally normal in all respects except everything 
is encased in a thin layer of ice, as though it were a section of tropical 
rainforest suddenly flash frozen.  The flowers are bent slightly in one 
direction as if swaying from a mild breeze when the arctic blast hit.  The 
whole scene makes for a rather ghastly paradox.  A few shattered pieces of 
purple orchid litter the pristine path through the garden.  The garden 
continues to the west and south, and an iron door is sunk into the north wall.

Wandering Through the Ice Garden
   There seems to be an ever present trail through the garden, but it follows 
no preordained route.  A nice swath of walking area has been left in between 
all the growth to allow travel in any direction not blocked by castle wall.  
The entire spectrum of color is represented in the scene, from deep greens of 
the leaves, to light purple raindrops frozen in time as they prepare to leap 
from a tree branch.   A covered gazebo provides shelter to the west, and the 
garden continues to the south and east.

A Covered Gazebo Lost Among the Frozen Flowers
   Framed in pine, this large gazebo provides strong shelter from the snow, 
but not the wind.  Intertwined between the lattice work and the roof, is a 
long vine that wraps in and out of the cross hatching circling the roof at 
least seven times.  Every few feet on the vine, a flower of a different 
species grows in solitude, each encased in a delicate sheath of ice.  
Accommodating benches line the outer edge, with central round bench facing 
outward, dominating the center of the structure.  A thin layer of ice covers 
the whole of the construction excepting the bench surfaces which have been 
chipped clean to allow for use.  The floor has also been cleaned and swept of 
snow.  Exits leads to the south, east, and west.

Wandering Through the Ice Garden
   If it were not for the obvious abnormalities of the surroundings, it would 
be quite pleasant.  But alas, the sheer strangeness of the garden cannot 
co-exist with comfort.  A rigid bench made from bamboo trees sits sheltered 
under the icy bow of a eucalyptus tree, that in a warmer climate might be used 
by young lovers.  A patch of gorgeous yellow orchids stands frozen in time in 
a small iron arbor to the left of the path.  In between the yellow petals, a 
purple flower emerges claiming dominion over the patch.  What appears to be a 
tool shed lies to the south, and the garden continues to the east, west, and 
north.

A Frozen Fountain In the Ice Garden
   Amidst the frozen orchids and hibiscus, a fountain of beautiful marble 
construction lies frozen in action. The fountain is a simple design with a 
round basin on the bottom and a long thin tower in the center from which water 
flows in all directions forming a circular waterfall.  The water arcing from 
the center piece to the basin below is frozen in flight forever in the icy 
grasp of whatever seized the forest.  A collection of droppings  on the snow 
beneath the fountain seem to indicate something is coming hear for water, or 
ice at least.  A gazebo lies to the north, and the icy garden is visible to 
the east and west.
