   A chill wind whistles mournfully across this flagstone landing.  An alcove
next to the east stairwell contains a leering stone statue, while facing
above contains a disquieting sculpture composed completely of chains.
A single hallway provides eggress towards the royal audience chamber.
On the wall hangs a portrait of a noble woman.  The woman's eyes appear
defiant, mischievous, and slightly cruel.  The woman bears a striking
resemblance to Ireena!

The Main Hallway
   This large hallway travels north and south through Castle Ravenloft's
second floor.  This castle is very high up, as the clouds outside creep
in creating a fog on the floor of these halls.  Spiderwebs cover everything
as it is also dark and quite dusty.  The carpetted floor, however, is
quite lavish as it leads through this main hallway.

   Massive stairs from the grand entry to an enormous landing.
Stone arches support a ceiling covered with frescoes, 20 feet
overhead.  The faded lines depict the mountain that supports
this castle as it is attacked by armored forces on horseback.
This landing births a wide staircase north deeper into Castle
Ravenloft while a similar hallway leads southwards towards
the belltower.  The Hall of Madness leads west from the Grand
Vestibule, while the headquarters of the guards is located
through the double-doors to the east.

   This old holding cell was used for any unruly patrons in the olde
Ravenloft.  Although currently unused, the cell could still potentially
function as a holding place, as everything is still in tact.  The mattress
on the bed, however, is browned with stains and reeks with feculence.

of the major towers of the Castle, while branching out from a central
vestibule in which twin staircases wind upwards to the Court of the
Count.  A large, red velvet carpet graces the darkstone floor.  Old
torch sconces are mounted every several feet on opposite sides of the
hall, unlit for years.
   A small set of stairs leads uptowards.  Before the stairs on the
ground, a small inscription reads on a plate on the very first step
'Court of the Count Above.'

old Ravenloft.  A great black cauldron stands near the door, filled with
a thick, cloying liquid.  Arrayed around most of the rest of the chamber
are long tables piled high with glass jars, vials, and canisters filled
with myraid substances.  A podium on the eastern wall holds a great book.
The southern wall follows the tower's curve, pierced by two leaded windows
covered in steel latticework.
