A Dark, Cold Tunnel
   The oppressive nature of the tunnel is becoming more and more
obvious.  Evil seems to flow around the tunnel like a living force,
cold and biting.  The musty air is seeming more and more like a tomb.
The tunnel slants steeply down to the east, and continues to the west.

A Dark, Cold Tunnel
   The tunnel seems to be unnaturally cold, like some cold, unseen
wind is moving through the tunnel.  At the same time, the air is
becoming chokingly musty.  The walls of the tunnel are made of rough
dry stone; it looks like the tunnel has been delved through solid
stone.  The floor of the tunnel is paved with bizarly shaped patterns
of flat stones.  The dark tunnel continues to the east, and up a
flight of stone stairs to the west.

A Paved Tunnel
   Roughly cut stones have been laid down along the floor of the
tunnel in random patterns.  Large columns of stone supports have been
placed along the walls of the tunnel to keep the ceiling of dirt and
clay from collapsing.  The air smells old and musty, like that of a
tomb.  Darkness seems to eat up the pool of light around you like a
hungry beast.  The tunnel continues down a set of stone stairs to the
east.  To the west lies the passage entrance.

A Secret Passageway Behind the Cave-In
   You've stumbled upon a secret passage!  This room was cleverly
hidden behind the cave-in wall by the kobolds.  One wonders if even
many of the kobolds know about the existence of this tunnel.  The air
seems musty, as if little fresh air finds its way down here.  The room
is somewhat circular, with much rubble and dirt lying around in large
clods.  It looks like the passage continues to the east, where the way
has been laid down with well cut stones.  The way back to the main
tunnels lies to the west.

The Bank of a Large Pond
   The murky stream tumbles down to meet a large pond at the base of
the slope.  The pond itself seems pretty murky, but kobolds seem to be
fishing the waters looking for food.  There is a hole going down into
the ground not too far away from here, traveling beneath the
settlement.  One can paddle out into the middle of the pond to the
south.

   The terrain here inclines downward to the south, creating a gentle
slope.  The murky stream gurgles and splashes as it winds its way down
the slope towards what looks to be a large pond at the base of the
incline.  Kobolds are here poking around the stream panning for
precuous metals in their hopes of finding riches among the murky
waters of the stream.  The path continues up to the north and down to
the south.

An Ill-Kept and Muddy Trail
   The murky stream to the north takes a sudden swing to the south of
here.  A giant slab of granite has been placed on the trail, over the
stream, to give travelers the luxury of not getting their boots wet
while crossing the stream to follow the trail.  Regardless of the
attempt to keep stream and trail separate, the path has become a muddy
mire, making traveling no easy business.  A small pathway breaks off
of the trail here to follow the murky stream to the south.  To the
west is a large mound, which looks to be a dwelling of sorts.

   This is an ill-kept trail running through a kobold encampment.  The
trail is used often, but little has been done to keep it in travelable
shape.  Paving stones seem to have been laid down at one time to make
traveling easier, but now only make you trip and fall in the muck of
the trail.  Giant ruts in the trail threaten to swallow your leg whole
if one is not to careful.  To the north, a small stream can be seen.
To the south is a wooden hut.  The trail continues to the east and west.

various muddy pathways.  A rank stench hangs in the air like too many
unwashed kobolds trying to live together in one place.  An ill-kept
trail leads east and west from here winding through among the squat
mud and stick huts of the kobolds.  A sign has been planted here in
the mucky ground.

encampment lies directly to the south.  A large iron gate has been set
in the wall to allow kobolds in and out, but none others.  A small
path leads off to the east.  It also looks possible to follow the
fence to the west, into the forest.  The trail continues north,
heading for the kobold settlement.
