A rocky overhang above makes even this wide entrance into the mountains
somewhat hidden and difficult to find. It is clear that a number of large
wagons have traveled this path before, and that it is still in heavy use.

Broad Street is the single major road that passes through the cavern

A Small Square
Smooth stone floors here are coated with some sort of thin green lichen
that has a faint luminescence to it. A small fountain has been placed
here in the square, the splashing water seems to be what supports the
growth of the lichen. A small, nameless road winds off to the east
through the cavern and the main road through the cavern to the port lies
to the west.

This nameless path passes through Quietus Quay winding through small
stone buildings and open-roofed shacks. Many of the buildings look far
sturdier than they should need to be when protected from the elements by
the surrounding cavern. A small shack lies to the north and an open door
leads into a sturdy stone building to the south.

A poorly built stone building once stood here, but its lack of decent
construction has allowed it to fall to the ground leaving nothing but
rubble and debris. The rocks it was made from don't appear to have come
from the caverns, or even the mountains nearby. Anyone spending the
effort to bring stone in from elsewhere only to build a shoddy home must
have been foolish indeed.

This building bears the design of a simple barracks. There is no
kitchen, nor even a table to eat at. A few simple wooden chairs dot the
room but it is otherwise full of beds and cots. Stone pegs along the door
were clearly designed for hanging clothing and weapons, and several large
chests next to a few of the beds hint that this really is some sort of
barracks for the Darvanu mercenaries that perform guard duties in Quietus
Quay.

Shelves line the walls holding a wide variety of glass and pottery
vials and flasks. None of the vials or flasks are labeled, and those that
do contain something, contain viscous solutions that seem to roll in upon
themselves with a life of their own. It would appear that a few of the
potions are for sale, but it would take a brave individual to explore
which of those being sold might actually be worth the outrageous prices
they are being sold for.

An Elegant Home
This wooden home has been constructed of imported woods from all around
the world. Both the construction and the materials are of the highest
quality. A number of small decorations throughout the small home hint
that its owner must be a wealthy merchant sailor that makes their living
transferring goods from place to place over the oceans of Duris. A
solid wood door leads back out of the home to the north.

someplace within the cavern. Heavy wooden doors have been placed into the

Within a Squat, Stone Building
Paintings have been made directly upon the stone walls. The eastern
wall depicts a large black dragon that has been captured and chained to
the ground. The western wall has been painted to depict a vast cavern
within the underdark while the northern wall has been painted with the
emblem of the Darvanu mercenaries. Though the paintings are somewhat
rough and abstract in places, they show a high level of skill and
patience. A small bed stands beneath the dragon to the east and a heavy
door leads out of the room to the south.

A Nameless Path
Squat stone buildings stand to the north and south. Both buildings
have been made of the same rough-hewn stone that appears to come from
someplace within the cavern. Heavy wooden doors have been placed into the
entryway of each, but the doors do not appear to have any locks. The
winding path continues to the east and west winding past large boulders
and old stalagmites as it meanders through the cavern.

A Small Building
The small room has been packed with cots and chests, leaving almost no
room to walk. Pegs line the walls, clearly designed to hold tools or
weapons of some sort. The room appears to see some fairly heavy use and,
though cluttered and cramped, has been kept quite clean. A heavy wooden
door leads back out of the room to the north.

The sound of dripping water bounces its way through the cavern. Sound
carries differently in caverns such as this, the dripping water could be
mere feet away, or as far as the furthest part of the cavern. Strangely,
the constant plop of the dripping water sounds crystal clear here. A
solid building made of marble stands to the south and a large open area is
just to the north. The nameless path through the cavern continues to the
east and west.

An Elegant, Wooden Home
Gaudy displays of wealth dot the small room, marking it as the house of
a merchant sailor or pirate of some sort. Small gold statues line shelves
on the wall and brightly colored paintings hang immediately above them.
The openly displayed items don't appear to be protected in any fashion,
yet thieves have not run off with any of them. The bright colors of the
paintings, as well as the bright silk coverings on the furniture in the
room, clash in an almost painful fashion, making it quite clear that they
are displayed only to be a sign of wealth.
