The Road to Desolate
   This is the top of the small hill within the forest.  Though
it isn't very high, one can still see much of the surrounding area
from this location.  The road behind one stretches out quite a
distance and though forest covers most of the area, it is still
easy to make out the village of Desolate, the Jousting Grounds,
and a great distance to the south, the Savannah of Sorrow. Heavy
layers of dark smoke cloud one's vision, and the view is obscured.
The smell of death is heavy in the air.

   The once peaceful hilltop, a trail used mostly by travellers and hikers
has now become a thing of war and terror as the army of armageddon hastily

only to make them easier to roll down the hill onto the battlefield below,

constructs their weapons of siege here. The engineers of the army oversee
the assembly of catapults, battering rams, and ballistae from here, not
only to make them easier to roll down the hill onto the battlefield below,
but also to set up and fire apon the village that lies off to the north-
east, within a direct firing arc of catapults from here.

The Road to Desolate
   This is the top of the small hill within the forest.  Though
it isn't very high, one can still see much of the surrounding area
from this location.  The road behind one stretches out quite a
distance and though forest covers most of the area, it is still
easy to make out the village of Desolate, the Jousting Grounds,
and a great distance to the south, the Savannah of Sorrow. Heavy
layers of dark smoke cloud one's vision, and the view is obscured.
The smell of death is heavy in the air.

just to the south and comes to a small hill.  The hill doesn't seem
extremely steep from here, in fact, just by tilting ones head up one
can see the top, and since the forest becomes too dense in other
directions, the road was built over the hill and not around it.

An Intersection in the Road
   The road splits off in four directions here.  The main, well-
beaten gravel road continues north and south, the east and west
routes aren't as kept up though still show heavy signs of travel.
The dark Army of Armageddon has transformed this once quiet inter-
section in a defendable permiter, a heavily fortified dig-in, where
the soldiers can prevent any reinforcements coming to the aid of
Desolate. Trees have been cut down to create strong barriers and a
deep trench has been dug along the width of the road leading south.

to the south, it is still strange to see so much greenery so
quickly.  The road heads north.
