traversing the endless tunnels, the place is strangly absent of any
of the larger animals which would normally be present. The massive
clawed footprints which occasionally marr the fairly dry but still
sticky mud here perhaps have something to do with their absence. Both
a low gutteral growling sound and a smooth scraping sound seem to come
from all directions at once, echoing hauntingly through this maze of
tunnels and further erasing any sense of direction.

in a strange line along the center of the tunnel. A sense of peace
seems to emanate from these mushrooms, and anywhere the strange green

mushrooms as there are traces of ground mulch scattered along the line

Here the tunnel which appears fairly uniform to the north, enters
a larger system of twisting caverns to the south. Subtle growling,
scraping, and snorting sounds can be heard emanating from the south,
giving this room an unsettling feeling. The footprints which are
pressed into the dry sticky mud here also look disturbingly large,
some even impossibly large. The closer to the south the footprints
occurr, the more frequently they appear. The sounds and sights here
are a less then subtle hint that to the south there could be danger.

To the north it looks like the tunnel may come to an end, as not
much is visible farther that direction. A very low growling sound,
more echos and low rumbling whispers then any tangible noise, emanates
from the south where the tunnel continues on. The smooth walls of the
cavern here are covered by the trademark glowing moss which bathes the
entirety of this cavern system in a gentle light. The wet muck which
covers theupper cavern system has been replaced here by a sticky dry
mud which is marred by the occasional massive clawed footprint.
Scratches on the cavern wall, made by what must be incredibly strong
claws or other natural weapons also indicate the presence of what
might be dangerous creatures here. To the south, the light appears
to brighten as though the tunnel opens up into a greater, wider chamber.

This dwelling is long since absent any residents and shows signs
of both disrepair as well as past struggles. The bones of several
shaughin lay littered and broken across the floor of the dwelling,
and cobwebs stretch across the room anchored to the plethora of
broken and shattered furniture which fills the dwelling. Seemingly
out of place in such an abandoned and obviously dangerous or haunted
abode, a well maintained section of hardwood floor sits in the far
side of the room. In addtion, strange footprints and claw marks are
visible nearby, added evidence that the chamber might require further
investigation.

Here the smooth stone floor of the cavern is completely covered by
water and muck with the occasional patch of underdark moss. The mud and
moss eventually give way to the shoreline of a beautiful underdark lake
which takes up easily the bulk of the cavern. The shoreline continues
on here, following the western wall of the cavern around the side of
the lake. Life is abundant here, as even the dark creatures of the
underdark require water to survive.

Entrance of a Cavernous Settlement
This room marks the transtion from the northern passage into a
large underworld cavern. The cavern stretches far to the south and
encompasses a large underworld lake which dominates much of the cave
floor to the south and east. Patches of moss surround the lakeshore,
while patches of underworld reeds protrude from the waters surface in
many places. The lakeshore also appears to be home to a settlement of
Shaughin, a thicker and less elegant evil cousin to the elves. Spending
their entire life in the underworld lounging in pools and other bodies
of water in which they require periodic immersion to survive, this cave
marks an ideal habitat for the Shaughin.

ceiling of the passage, casting just enough light to provide vision
without disrupting the sensitive eyes of those creatures from the
underdark who possess ultravision. Small patches of mud mixed
with puddles of water become more and more prevalant to the
south, indicating the likely presence of an underground lake or river
nearby. One of the patches of mud contains a webbed footprint which
appears fairly recent, a testament that the creaters of this passage
may still inhabit this area.

This section of the cavern is covered by the waters of a vast
underground lake, the depth of which would only cover a human to its
knees. Although shallow, the lake is teeming with life such as
fish and other creatures, providing a steady food source for the shaughin
as well as clever underdark predators which rely on the water to
sustain life. Unlike most underground bodies of water, the surface
of this lake is not smooth and flat but rather filled with ripples.
A light current can be felt pulling to the south, indicating the
possible presence of an underwater outlet.
