A Swirling Maelstrom
     Here the life sustaining waters of this underdark lake have given
way to the raging fury of a small maelstrom.  Were the water any deeper
in this lake, death would be certain for any creatures passing here as
they are sucked into the full wrath of the current and down into the
dark depths below.  A slight glowing light emanates from the center of
the maelstrom, which combined with the light roar of the shallow waters
as they plunge into the depths indicates the likely presence of another
cavern below.  Droplets of water fill the air as the splashing froth
of the waters as they pass through the maelstrom kicks large batches
of spray up into the air.  The teeming fish and life which fills the
rest of the underdark lake waters are conspicuously absent here, as
survival has dictated they avoid the fast moving waters here in order
to prevent a one-way journey into the void beneath.

Along a Vertical Waterfall
     Turbulent, falling water hurtles down this vertical passage.  The
walls are smooth from erosion of the falling water, providing no ledges
or ridges for any creatures intrepid enough to attempt to pass this way.
Falling water fills the entire chamber, exerting an inexorable downward
force which prevents any objects which pass through the falls to become
lodged here for very long.  The lack of air in this chamber makes it
impossible for anything lacking gills to survive here long, provided
they can even defeat the twin powers of gravity and current which rule
this vertical passage.

The Base of a Towering Waaterfall
     Here the passage is completely filled with a large, turbulent pool
of water.  A loud, echoing roaring sound created by water cascading down
from high and crashing into the pool here drowns out all other noise in
the chamber.  While the pool is not particularly deep, the swirling
and unpredictable currents make it impossible to swim or wade across
to the other side.  The pool empties the pool through the passage to
the north, filling that direction with swiftly moving water.  The moss
which adorns much of the walls of this cavern system is even more abundant
here by the pool, drinking in the constant spray of airborne water which
fills the chamber.  It does not seem possible for any creatures which
do not possess the ability to fly or levitate themselves to even enter
this room, let alone pass deeper into the cavern system to the north.
High above, the cavern continues off into the darkness as the falling
water continues to cut a swathe through the once solid rock above.

A Tunnel Approaching an Underworld Waterfall
     To the south it looks like the tunnel may come to watery end, as
the sound of rushing water emanates from that direction.  A very low
growling sound, more echos and low rumbling whispers then any tangible
noise, emanates from the north where the tunnel continues on.  The
smooth walls of the cavern here are covered by the trademark glowing
moss which bathes the entirety of this cavern system in a gentle light.
The wet muck which covers theupper cavern system is also present here,
along with the occasional puddle.  Directly to the south, what appears
to possibly be shallow, fast moving water travelling in this direction
seems to take a sudden turn to the east to pass out of the light of the
inhabited underdark forever.  Scratches on the cavern wall, made
by what must be incredibly strong claws or other natural weapons
also indicate the presence of what might be dangerous creatures here.
To the north, the light appears to brighten as though the tunnel opens
up into a greater, wider chamber.

Before A Maze of Twisting Caverns
     Here the tunnel which appears fairly uniform to the south, enters
a larger system of twisting caverns to the north.  Subtle growling,
scraping, and snorting sounds can be heard emanating from the north,
giving this room an unsettling feeling.  The footprints which are
pressed into the dry sticky mud here also look disturbingly large,
some even impossibly large.  The closer to the north the footprints
occurr, the more frequently they appear.  The sounds and sights here
are a less then subtle hint that to the north there could be danger.

mushrooms as there are traces of ground mulch scattered along the line
of mushrooms.

A Path of Shattered Mushrooms
     Here along the path the light from the trail of mushrooms has
faded into a dim glow, in large part due to the recent destruction of
the bulk of them.  All of the more larger and more mature mushrooms
have been shattered, appearing to have been blasted apart by some form
of physical energy.  The feeling of peace which seemed to be prevalant
along the mushroom path is absent here, and there are signs of recent
activity by large and possibly dangerous creatures here.  Even amid
the carnage of destroyed mushrooms, there are also indications that
someone has spread mulch and is working to restore this strange trail
of glowing mushrooms.  Even so, this appears to be an very dangerous
place to be.

A Maze of Twisting Caverns
     This area is a horribly confusing mass of tunnels heading off
in every direction imaginably.  Only a few of the tunnels are large
enough to accomdate even the smallest of humanoid creatures, although
the thousands of smaller holes riddle every surface here.  The original
denziens of this maze and likely creators of the tunnels are long since
vanished to the unfathomable depths of the underdark, leaving a vast
playground for the animals which have since taken up residence here.
While the plethora of smaller holes provide cover and safety for small
cave rats and cavern snakes both of which can be seen in glimpses
traversing the endless tunnels, the place is strangly absent of any
of the larger animals which would normally be present.  The massive
clawed footprints which occasionally marr the fairly dry but still
sticky mud here perhaps have something to do with their absence.  Both
a low gutteral growling sound and a smooth scraping sound seem to come
from all directions at once, echoing hauntingly through this maze of
tunnels and further erasing any sense of direction.

A Path of Shattered Mushrooms
     Here along the path the light from the trail of mushrooms has
faded into a dim glow, in large part due to the recent destruction of
the bulk of them.  All of the more larger and more mature mushrooms
have been shattered, appearing to have been blasted apart by some form
of physical energy.  The feeling of peace which seemed to be prevalant
along the mushroom path is absent here, and there are signs of recent
activity by large and possibly dangerous creatures here.  Even amid
the carnage of destroyed mushrooms, there are also indications that
someone has spread mulch and is working to restore this strange trail
of glowing mushrooms.  Even so, this appears to be an very dangerous
place to be.
Obvious exits: -North -East  -South

A Maze of Twisting Caverns
     This area is a horribly confusing mass of tunnels heading off
in every direction imaginably.  Only a few of the tunnels are large
enough to accomdate even the smallest of humanoid creatures, although
the thousands of smaller holes riddle every surface here.  The original
denziens of this maze and likely creators of the tunnels are long since
vanished to the unfathomable depths of the underdark, leaving a vast
playground for the animals which have since taken up residence here.
While the plethora of smaller holes provide cover and safety for small
cave rats and cavern snakes both of which can be seen in glimpses
traversing the endless tunnels, the place is strangly absent of any
of the larger animals which would normally be present.  The massive
clawed footprints which occasionally marr the fairly dry but still
sticky mud here perhaps have something to do with their absence.  Both
a low gutteral growling sound and a smooth scraping sound seem to come
from all directions at once, echoing hauntingly through this maze of
tunnels and further erasing any sense of direction.
Obvious exits: -East  -West
